The annual Troopers Helping Troopers 2023 Hockey Tournament was held on January 14-15, 2023. The Hockey Tournament is sponsored by Travel Champs, Hershey Bears, Dauphin County Commissioners, PSECU, PSTA, PSP Civics Association, and Eastern PA Hockey.
Troopers Helping Troopers Foundation is an organization that assists law enforcement families in times of need. The foundation also pays for the funeral costs of PA State Troopers killed in the line of duty. Last year, the tournament raised $21,542.65. On 01/13/22, The Hershey Bears kicked off this year’s tournament with an on the ice check presentation at the Hershey Bears game. The Hershey Bears also dedicated this game to first responders.
The 2023 event featured a two division, two day hockey tournament. Division BC was represented by teams from the PA State Police, Washington DC Fire, Hidden Valley Self Storage, FOP Lodge #62, Shippensburg Raiders, RiverHorse, FBI, New Jersey State Police, Maryland State Police, and Progress Fire.
The winner of the BC Division was the Shippensburg Raiders with the New Jersey State Police finishing 2nd .
The D division was represented by teams from the PA State Police, Lancaster Blues, Twigs and Biscuits, Johnstown Generals, New Jersey Fire, Baltimore Sentinels, Central PA Hounds, Pittsburgh Icemen.
The winner of the D Division was Johnstown Generals with the Pittsburgh Icemen finishing 2nd.
